Everest Expedition - Nepal
April-May -- Nepal -- standard route
We provide full western-managed support including all tents, all meals at BC and on the mountain, all oxygen, good walkie talkies, two climbing sherpas per climber ratio, satellite phones, internet-email to keep your sponsors and family happy and up to date, all managed by Chris Klinke.
Our sherpa crew are honest, strong and very experienced, and focused on your safety and success. The base camp meals are tasty and hygienic.
We have a very good safety record, no deaths and only once case of frostbite in someone who refused to turn around. We really understand all the altitude issues, and work as a team on the climb, have great meals and a clean kitchen. We are not the most expensive, or the most publicized, instead we just try to run good, low key expeditions.
We start our expedition a little later than some, as the climbing sherpas are carrying all the loads. This date allows for an early summit window, and also you should still be in good condition for a later window. Note that in 2008 we started our expedition on the same day. This later start also allows for trekking and climbing in the Everest region prior to the expedition start.
Everest is the highest mountain on the planet and despite some of the publicity it is not 'easy' or even 'straightforward'. It is a very serious peak and bad judgment or even bad luck can be fatal up there. Even with the best companies the risk of frostbite or death is real.
